CHRISTOPHER BIRD
FILM EDITOR
I have edited programmes that have won a BAFTA, an International Emmy and a Rose d'Or. I have edited theatrically screened documentaries, prime time documentaries for all the major UK broadcasters, as well as BBC comedies.
I have also directed five documentaries, most recently The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story for ABC. I won a Rondo Hatton Award for I'm King Kong: The Exploits of Merian C Cooper.
I started in the business with a directing internship on a Sir Richard Attenborough film. I then joined Oscar-winner Kevin Brownlow's company, working as assistant editor on his 2000 restoration of the legendary masterpiece Napoleon (1927). I went on to become his editor and co-director.
At the same time I edited the independent feature film Emotional Backgammon, which had a theatrical release and won three awards.
I created and teach the rig editing workshop at the National Film and Television School as part of the Film Editing MA, and am a visiting tutor there.
